#Blogtober 2016 – Day 1

This month is not October. Oh no, you are mistaken. It is actually Blogtober. Being one to always love a challenge, I’ve decided to take on the Blogtober challenge set by Mandi at Hex Mum Plus 1. For me I’ve enjoyed the blogging journey so far, and am starting to feel a little less overwhelmed at the vertical learning curve of self-hosting a site. I’m hoping to learn so much this month and that this shall kick-start my organising skills back into gear (haha). These should be in addition to my normal content (that’s the plan, anyway), and the rota of the month is outlined below.

Posts for the week!

Day 1 – Who are you?

I am Mama of MamaMakesDo, I’m a first time Mum to one gorgeous baby boy (my Little Mister) and I’m in the middle of my mid-twenties.  I’m currently living in Hampshire with my fiancé, although I’m originally from sunny Cornwall (I do miss the pasties, they just don’t do them right up here in the “North”).

I studied at Bath University for 5 years and graduated with a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or the long version *deep breath*, a MEng in Mechanical Engineering with Manufacturing and Management with hons), and it was whilst I was on my Industrial placement in the third year I met my partner. I remember it well, he was the scientist, I was the Engineering student. He’d just had laser eye surgery (which I didn’t know about!), so I just thought he was a really cool scientist stood in reception with a lab jacket and mirrored shades. The rest is history as they say, and I’m now on maternity leave from my role at that site as a Process Improvement Engineer.

I’ve always been nerdy, and love my video games. Since becoming a Mum my time for gaming has considerably diminished, but I look forward to playing some classic Mario with the Little Mister as he gets bigger! I have no idea yet how I will ration his gaming habits, especially since I collect games (old and new!), meaning our house is full of old consoles and cartridges. If I had to be pushed for a favourite game, it would be Portal on PC, which if you haven’t played, or even if you don’t usually game, it’s something you need to experience!

A small corner of the gaming collection, Little Mister never going to be short of something to play!

When I’m not Mummying, gaming or Engineering, I can be found in the kitchen baking or cooking. In trying to lose my Mum-tum I’ve rediscovered the joy of fresh ingredients and cooking from scratch, and have been documenting my creations both on here and on my Instagram account. Speaking of Instagram, I’m a keen photographer; even if my SLR has been sat needing repair for a few years now (must post off for repair…). I’m also a (brand shiny new!) blogger, and am enjoying everything so far.

Malteasers Suspension Cake for a Bake-Off at work, I didn’t win 🙁

There you go, that’s me in a nutshell! I am looking forward to seeing this through, and reading lots of other Blogtober posts.

    1. Aww thank you, there was a walnut whip cake that beat me to the post, but at least there was so much cake there to eat in consolation hehe.

    1. Thank you, I’d like to say being an Engineer helped with putting together Little Mister’s Travel System and Car Seat but nope, no use at all haha x

  1. Welcome to #Blogtober16! My four eldest children would happily spend all day with that gaming collection! I can assure you the gaming ration is very difficult, and my husband is worse than I am, the children have worked out if they persuade mum that its really dad that wants to play they will get away with an extra 10 minutes! Little mister is gorgeous and enjoy every minute, because they grow so quickly, I look forward to learning more about you during the next 30 days xxx

    1. Thank you :). I love a bit of the Sims, managed to get the Sims 4 super cheap at Christmas and somehow lost a whole weekend to it O_o
