To round out our reviews of “Flying Tiger” surprise bags (see our review of the bag for “Everyone” here, and “For Kids” here), we’ve picked up a bag labelled “For Teens and Adults”. But this is a bigger bag than your average – it’s an XXL bag to be precise.
As always, we’ve filmed an unboxing video for this one, so do check that out below! If though you prefer a written unboxing, scroll past and check out what goodies we got right here. This Flying Tiger Surprise bag for Teens and Adults was purchased at the end of 2019 for £6.
The first item out of the bag explains why the whole thing was so darn heavy; a glass cocktail making set. One of the mason jars has a juicer on the top, so you can make the freshest of juicy alcoholic concoctions. The other jar has a strainer lid so that once you’ve shaken up your poison, you can strain out the ice and lumps. Off-camera, I unpackaged for a closer look and while I have to say it feels good quality, I really struggled to get the lid off the strainer.
A Photo Frame and Card Holder
It seems that photo frames aren’t just for kids, as this Adult and Teen surprise bag also had a photo frame. With a sturdy, stainless steel rim, it’s nice and modern looking and wouldn’t look out of place in any home. I have no idea how this moth print credit cardholder came to end up as overstock (seeeerrriously, who doesn’t love fabrics with bugs all over them…), but here it is. Not something I’d use personally, I have way too many loyalty cards in my wallet.
A water bottle AND CUP, all in one
You can never get enough water bottles. The bonus of this one is that the lid is a cup, ideal for… erm… situations when you can’t drink from the bottle? I don’t know, doesn’t seem that useful to me, unless you’re going to share your smaller than average bottle of water with someone(?). At least it’s plain so we can decorate it with my Cricut. Can’t comment if this is the case when full of water, but in the video, I managed to hurl this bottle off my desk and onto the floor several times, as it is very easy to tip shape.
Stationery – Diary, Notepad and Pen
Again, like the Kid’s surprise bag, we have a novelty pom-pom pen. This time, instead of a pineapple we have an adorable crab. Not going to lie, this has already become my pen of choice around the house. Unusually for an overstock goodie bag, we have a diary that is STILL IN DATE. Seriously, I bought this the last week of December and it didn’t start until the following week. This is a little bit small for my own personal tastes, but a handy diary to pop in your handbag. Finally, on the stationery front, we have a fake leather-bound notebook. This is something I’ll get lots of use from; I always have some sort of small note pad on me to jot down genius ideas as they come to me (disclaimer: the ideas aren’t usually genius, but if I don’t jot them down they’ll be lost to the ether).
Pretty dull this one; keyring findings. As someone that does enjoy crafting, however, I am sure I will manage to get some use out of these. However, I can see how this would be pretty disappointing to most people. Plus, is there anyone out there who can open these to get keys on without damaging nails and the soft squishy bits under your nails? (If yes, teach me your witchcraft).
To help keep our costs down on our weekly shop, and to aid in running down the freezer and cupboards, we like to do a weekly meal plan. Nothing complicated, just a list of what’s for dinner each night. Because of this, we do purchase weekly planners, similar to this Tiger one that came in our surprise bag. Only negative is that the pages in this planner aren’t attached to each other at all (no glue at the top etc), which might make it a bit of a pain to store without losing all the sheets.
Battery String Lights
I’m going to be honest; these wouldn’t have been likely to be something I’d of purchased for myself. HOWEVER, now that they’ve come into my possession, I have them around my Ikea Fredde Desk and LOVE them. I’ve had an on/off interest in photography for years, and last year discovered a Lomography Diana in a charity shop with the add-on for instant Fuji-max photos. Consequently, I have lots of cute polaroids of the kids that make me smile, and now these adorn my place of working to cheer me on while I’m working (while they’re not actually there physically cheering…. I do work in my living room so they are there most of the time in person hehe).
Flying Tiger Teen and Adult Surprise! Bag – Conclusion
Our £6 for the Flying Tiger surprise bag XXL got us 10 items, working out at just 60p per item. As usual, the Flying Tiger Surprise bag has shown to be a good value for money, with several higher value items (the cocktail shakers and the lights) to take the sting out of the filler junk (seriously, a bug print pouch and empty keyrings….). I’ll definitely be buying more bags next time I’m passing a store.
